Save Up Your Trading Cards
As hinted out already, there will be a majority of games that will provide you with steam trading cards as a reward for playing them.
They usually are worth a few pennies each but you can usually get 2-3 of them per game. And if you are REALLY LUCKY, youll be given a card thats worth a couple of dollars.
There is no real pattern that you can master to make sure you can get the valuable game cards.
However, there are certain rules that help out in the long run. Going through them makes the basis for you getting them in the first place.
It seems that you will get your first card after the first 15 minutes of gameplay. The second card will then drop after 2 hours of gameplay.
The best way to get cards is to not think about it. Simply enjoy playing the games that you do have, and over time your trading card collection will go up.
You usually get your first trading card just after the first 15 minutes of gameplay. The second one will arrive soon too, after 2 hours to be exact!
Personally, I believe that the best way to collect the cards is to not obsess over them. Youll keep getting them when you passionately the game! So yeah, focus on enjoying.
If you really need the trading cards efficiently as possible, you should use Steam Idle Master to automate the process.
Invest Your Cash Back And Rewards
While it is great to make money with credit cards, you can easily make more money with your cash back when you are smart.
What do I mean with this? Many cash back cards simply offer a statement credit as the redemption option.
On the surface, this is great. You get your bill for $1,000 and you only have to pay $900 because you cash in your accumulated cash back.
But if you are smart, you take your $100 savings and invest it. By doing this, you allow your cash back to compound over time and grow into even more money.
Here is how this works. If your credit card bill is $1,000 and you have $100 in cash back available, you redeem it as a statement credit.
You pay $900 to cover your bill, then transfer $100 from your checking account into an investment account.
How much of an impact can this have? Lets say you average $500 in cash back per year and you invest it in an account with Wealthsimple that earns an average 8% a year.
After 20 years, you have close to $25,000! What will you do with this extra $25,000?
Three: Register Or Log
After finding out whether your prepaid card provider allows such a transaction, you can sign-up for an account or log in if you already have an account.
If you need to do registration, then you will need your prepaid card with you. After signing-up, you can use the log-in details for future transactions.

When You Get A Give A Gift Card
- Put it somewhere youll remember it. If the back of your desk drawer is where gift cards go to die, find a more visible spot like the organizer on top of your desk. Or you can even set a reminder on your digital device of the location so you know exactly where it is.
- Make a plan to use it this month. If its an experience-type gift card, such as for a restaurant, spa, or museum, make an appointment or a reservation right away so you get to enjoy it.
- Dont go more than a year without using it. Yes, you should have five years before consequences ensue, but that wont mean much if the store goes out of business or closes the location nearest you.
- If applicable, load it onto an app. Gift cards from places like Dunkin Donuts, Uber, Apple, or Amazon can be redeemed as a credit to your account to be used at your leisure. That way, you dont have to worry about misplacing the physical card or not having it on your person when you could use it.

When You Give A Gift Card
- Make sure you know what the person likes. If you give a gift card for a store or service that your recipient just isnt interested in or cant use, its likely to go unused. When it doubt, go with a retailer that has a variety of items, like Target.
- Get them something they can conveniently use. While theme park gift cards or museum memberships can be a big hit, if your recipient lives far from the location, they may not ever use it. Likewise, try not to give gift cards that would require the giftee to spend beyond their budget. For example, a $25 card to an upscale restaurant or designer handbag store isnt going to go very far.
- Consider an e-gift card. Especially for digitally native types, sending a gift card right to someones email or text for easy loading lets them connect the funds to their digital wallets and apps.
When gifting an e-gift card, you can still give the recipient something to unwrap by creatively packaging up a note that says Check your email at the time you scheduled the gift card to arrive.
Use Your Cards Strategically
I mentioned that I use the American Express Blue Preferred card as my primary card. But I also use other cards. And by using them strategically, I earn the most cash back possible.
The two other cards I use are the Discover It Card and the Citi Double Cash Back Card.
The Discover card offers 5% cash back on rotating categories throughout the year and the Citi card offers 2% cash back on everything.
Here is how I strategically plan to make money using credit cards during the year:
- American Express Blue Preferred: Groceries and gas
- Discover It: Gas, warehouse clubs, and Amazon, when the 5% bonus is active
- Citi Double Cash Back: Everything else.
At first, it was a little confusing to remember which card to use where and when, but now that I have been doing it for a few years, remembering which card to use happens automatically.

Where To Sell Your Unwanted Gift Cards
The market has greatly consolidated in the last year. Most gift card websites now focus on selling cards at a discount or buying in bulk.
The two main sites that still buy unwanted gift cards from individuals are Raise and Cardpool and they have very different business models. Cardpool buys cards directly from consumers. Raise lets you list the cards you want to sell on their marketplace.
Vouchers Bought After 2 December 2019
Under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 there is a 5-yearminimum expiry date for all vouchers sold after 2 December 2019.
Under the rules, gift vouchers must either:
- Have no expiry date, or
- Must be valid for at least 5 years from the date the gift voucher is issued.
You must be given details of the expiry date in a durable format at the time you buy the gift voucher.
The legislation does not apply to gift vouchers bought before 2 December2019.

They Drive People To Your Website
Digital gift cards are becoming more popular, with an estimated value of $15 billion according to Gift Card Granny. The giver can conveniently purchase a gift card through your website, saving a trip to the store perfect for last-minute gift purchases. The card is emailed to the recipient, eliminating the need for paper or plastic gift cards or certificates.
Nearly 40% of consumers prefer digital gift cards that are scanned from their phone over a physical card, according to research by Gift Card Granny.
Set Reminders For The Cards You Want To Use
If youre planning to use a card, employ your phone and a calendar to help keep track, says Shelley Hunter, spokeswoman for GiftCards.com, an online provider of gift cards. Hunter keeps a running list of her cards on her phone and makes a note on her calendar when she plans to use one.
“On Saturday, I’m probably going to go out to lunch with my boys, so I will put on the calendar, ‘Lunch with boys. Use Panera gift card,'” Hunter says.
Even if you don’t have a specific plan for a card, consider putting a “use by” date on your calendar so you dont forget it, Tilson says.
Hunter also recommends treating cards like cash. If you got a $20 bill as a gift, youd probably put it into your wallet right away, Hunter notes. Consider doing the same with gift cards you plan to use.
“I put them next to the debit or credit card that I use most often,” she says.
Tilson agrees. If she puts gift cards elsewhere in her wallet or purse, “I forget about them.”

Why all the answers that take so much effort? This isn’t a problem at all. I always just use my unused balances to buy gas. Stick the card in and it will pump right up to the last penny before turning off.
Alas, here in New Jersey we aren’t allowed to pump our own gas, so that’s not an option.
So it’s not always so simple Hopefully, your cashier will work with you to use the amount you have left in a reasonable manner 🙂

Unused Gift Cards Can Lose Value
Even though its illegal for cards to expire for five years , they can start to lose some of their value before then. Thats because in certain circumstances, and depending on the state, businesses may be allowed to impose a fee for inactivity after a certain period of time.
To do so, however, three conditions must be met, as per the CARD Act:
- Fees can only be charged if there has been no card activity in the year prior.
- Only one fee per month can be charged.
- The business must disclose if they charge any fees at the time of the sale.
Beyond the federal ruling, however, some states set their own parameters around gift card expiration and fees. California, for example, has one of the stronger gift card protections, making it unlawful to sell a gift card that has an expiration date or charges a service fee.
Likewise, in Florida, a gift card that is purchased cant expire or have a fee, but an exception is made if the gift card is donated by the business. Then, if that information is disclosed, it can have an expiration date thats at least three years after the issue date as long as its disclosed.
In an effort to remind people to cash in their gift cards, the third Saturday in January was deemed National Use Your Gift Card Day, starting in 2021. The hope is that it functions similarly to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, benefiting both retailers and consumers.

Vouchers Bought Before 2 December 2019
You should have been made aware of the expiry date at time of purchase. Sometraders print the expiry on the voucher itself, on the packaging, on thewebsite or you can see the policy in the shop. If it is not clear, ask or lookfor the policy on the website before buying. Expiry dates can vary as thetrader decides how long they are valid for.
If you are buying a voucher as a gift, make sure the person you are givingit to knows the expiry date and can use the voucher during the time allowed. Ifyou get a voucher, check for the expiry date straight away. Dont assume thatthere isnt one just because you cannot see it – try to find it on thewebsite or contact customer service. Set a reminder on your phone to remind youto use it on or before that date.
Some traders may be flexible. If your voucher has expired, you shouldcontact the trader to see if they will extend it. However, if you bought thegift voucher before 2 December 2019, they have no legal obligation to do thisand some may charge a fee.

They Encourage Loyalty And Repeat Visits
Several merchants offer gift card promotions, especially around the holidays, and they can be a great way to increase loyalty with your current customers. For example, offer a free $10 gift card to customers who purchase $100 in gift cards.
This type of offer might encourage a purchaser to spend more money, driving up the average amount of your gift card sale. You can make the bonus gift cards valid after the holidays and for a short period of time, boosting slower sales during the first quarter of a new year.
Buying A Gift Card With Cardcash
Operated by its founders since 2009, CardCash has been unscathed by the blights plaguing the BlackHawk Network. CardCash is best when you’re buying for yourself and want to score extra savings: You can buy partially used or unused gift cards for amounts over $10. The interface is intuitive and tells you the percentage you’ll save on each discounted gift card. For example, I saved 1.8% of the value of a $25 Home Depot e-gift card by paying $24.55 for the $25 value. Just note that once you add a product to your cart, you have 20 minutes to check out or your selection may not be reserved.
CardCash offers a 45-day money-back guarantee on all purchases if something goes wrong with the gift card value. You also have the option of paying with BitPay. When I finalized the purchase, I was notified it would take up to 24 hours to receive my gift card in my inbox, but I received it almost immediately. The gift card itself came in the form of an email attachment.
